Buural Mountain Burial Mound in Darkhan-Uul

Buural Uul or Buural Mountain is a sacred mountain located 3km to the north of Khongor soum of Darkhan-Uul province. This mountain is worshipped by the locals and has an abundance of limestone. Because of the rich source of limestone, a long time ago a kiln was built and used to mine limestone but it is abandoned since the province administration declared the mountain sacred. Also there are burial mounds that dates back to the 13th century on the mountainside of Buural Uul. A total of 27 burial mounds were discovered in 1980. And it was confirmed that those burial mounds belonged to Mongols from the 13th or 14th century. However, later, an expedition team found out that eight of the burial mounds belonged to Huns but did not confirm the time frame.
