Tsonj Rock in Dornogobi

Located in Delgerekh soum of Dornogovi province, 55km to the northeast of Delgerekh town, Tsonj Rock is an amazing rock formation consisting of long hexagonal stones stuck together. The stones are 5m tall and this trap rock mound was created when the magma got slowly cooled down under an enormous amount of pressure thousands or millions of years ago. Yet, it is still unbelievable how Tsonj trap rock is formed by the force of nature not by human hands. The rock initially had more stones, unfortunately, people exploited the rock and you can see a hole dug by humans in order to pull out the stones to make use of it. Also, this spot is struck by lightning more often than others, so the top of the rock gets damaged by natural forces too.
